Initialise ISM (ism_startup -init) 2. Add informix as an administrative user (ism_add -admin informix@lmnexdb05) 3. Add the tape device (ism_add -device /dev/rmt/1) 4. Label the device (ism_op -label /dev/rmt/1 -volume ISMData [or ISMLogs] -pool ISMData [or ISMLogs]) In step 3, your tape device might be different. You need to do step 4 for data *and* for logs.
