On-Line archiving !

Since the 'tbtape -s' command always takes us into interactive mode to ask us for the archiving level (0, 1 or 2), is there some way of bypassing this and calling the tbtape utility from within a PERL/SHELL script while still keeping track of the archiving level by automatically assigning a value to it depending on the current date or our archiving strategy.
