Hi,
I am experiencing this problem with informix Dynamic Server Version
7.31.UC3 in solaris 2.6. I had to go in for an abnormal reboot of my
system and in the process I am getting the following errors for
Informix.
1:18:36 Error: Unable to reset open files limit, must run as super-user
11:18:36 Event alarms enabled. ALARMPROG =
'/opt/resolve/thirdparty/informix/etc/log_full.sh'

on the database server.
My primary chunk got corrupted and unfortunately I did nt have an
archive of the chunk. And after that it could not recognise the user.
Is there a work around for this other than reinstallation?
Thanks
Manoj

Your UNIX kernel parameter (nr. of file descriptors) is to small:
$ sysdef
.
.
** Process Resource Limit Tunables (Current:Maximum)
*
Infinity:Infinity cpu time
Infinity:Infinity file size
Infinity:Infinity heap size
0x00800000:Infinity stack size
Infinity:Infinity core file size
0x00000040:0x00000400 file descriptors <--
Infinity:Infinity mapped memory
.
