Long transactions happen when OnLine thinks that it will not have enough logical logs to rollback a transaction. The OnLine looks at two configuration parameters in the onconfig file, LTXHWM and LTXEHWM, Long transaction high watermark and Long transaction exclusive high watermark. These are percentage figures. And if a transaction is open, while this much percentage of logical logs is filled up, then OnLine will automatically rollback that transaction. There are three solutions to your problem. 1. Bump up the LTXHWM and LTXEHWM. This is DANGEROUS ( Yes, I am shouting ) and should be done only if you do not care about loosing data ( Test databases ). 2. Increase the number of logical logs. Recommended if you have enough disk space or can add. 3. Rewrite the application causing such transaction and break up the transaction in smaller pieces. Recommended if you can modify the source code. You can get more details about long transactions and how to handle them in TFM, viz. a) Informix OnLine admin. guide. b) Informix FAQ ( http://www.iiug.org/techinfo/faq/faq_top.html and specifically http://www.iiug.org/techinfo/faq/ifaq06.htm#6 ) > Any help greatly appreciated. > > Thanks/Yogesh > HTH, Ravi... <<Description about -458 snipped>> -- Ravi Joseph Pinto, mailto:ravi@in.dhl.com Senior Consultant, voice :91-22-8503000 extn. 1531 Astra Infotech, Mumbai, India PS : Standard disclaimers apply.
