Informix and El Capitan
Posted in 2015
If you use Informix on Mac OS X, be aware that Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan has introduced a new core feature called System Integrity Protection, SIP. One side effect of the rules enforce by SIP is that the GSKit libraries are removed from, and cannot be reinstalled in, /usr/lib. You also cannot place anything in /usr (which isn't as much of a problem as all that for Informix). This, in turn, means that Informix doesn't work at the moment if you upgrade to El Capitan. You can find more information about SIP at https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/193368/what-is-the-rootless-feature-in -el-capitan-really/ amongst other places.
