RE: Is there any way to rebackup a logical log that has been marked as backed up?
Posted in 2012
We think the problem is the "L" flag in the informix properties of the destination of omniback has been set.
Fortunately we have another small production database that we can test this with.
the code in log_full.sh is:
$BACKUP_CMD <<EOF 2>&1 >> /dev/null
n
EOF
where BACKUP_CMD="ontape -a"

That means the when someone runs ontape they are answering 'Y' when asked if they want to backup the current log. The answer should always be 'N'. The ALARMPROGRAM script/executable is run with event #23 passed in when the logical log changes and answering 'Y' to that question from ontape causes ontape to do the equivalent of running "onmode -l" which changes logs, so yes, the ALARMPROGRAM gets run with event #23, log completed.

I just looked at the omniback properties and it turns out that the two logical logs are being backed up to tape along with
the dbspaces. I'm pretty sure that is NOT what we want to do. But log_full.sh is still being called!

Well it normally takes a couple or three days for our logical logs to wrap and we L 0 nightly, the problem was the multiple
logs that get created used and advanced during the backup process are the ones missing, because log_full.sh was being called
repeatedly very rapidly.
