Keeping Indices Efficient

I have some questions regarding index rebuilds. It is recommended that we rebuild indexes and constraints on highly volatile tables on a regular basis. 1) What does "set indexes disable/enable" command do to an index. Can this be used as an alternative to "drop and create" an index? 2) Somebody suggested not to rebuild primary key constraint and the unique index supporting the constraint. Is this a valid suggestion? I wonder why? Can anyone explain why unique indexes dont suffer from dilution of index structure. Thanks Shehla
