I snipped out the rest because I think that if I address this little tid bit you might get a glimmer of the real business world. There is a thing known as FUD. This is what Microsoft sells. There is a thing known as TCO. This is what every corporation wants to reduce. Linux reduces TCO, however, the lack of *comercial* products increases FUD. Linux also doesn't run everywhere, nor is it as scalable as other OSs. Commercial products allows one to bridge that gap. Use Linux where it is capable of performing, and other OSs where they excel. Overall reducing TCO and FUD to an acceptable level. The survey is an attempt to address why people chose Linux, and what do they feel is missing. A homegrown SQL database will not be as reliable or as powerful as an Oracle or Informix product. It will also not have the support that corporate customers want. You can say that you don't want to buy any commercial products on Linux, however, maybe the Australian government has a different opinion? That's what the survey is trying to find out. The future begins with Today. Remember that. -Mikey
