RE: IBM Database Encryption Expert support for IDS

Well yeah, There are those products and some can be quite expensive, especially if they are certified to do a certain level of encryption. On a "poor man"'s budget you could use CUNDA and a $2000-$4000 graphics card to do your financial calcs and encryption within the database. you would just have to write the UDR/UDF and possibly a service to make it happen. > Date: Wed, 29 Oct 2008 10:02:05 +0000 > From: obnoxio@serendipita.com > CC: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Re: IBM Database Encryption Expert support for IDS > > Ian Michael Gumby wrote: > > if you look past the marketing blurb, more smoke than mirrors. > > Without encryption hardware, you're going to take a huge performance hit > > if you're encrypting a column that you index. > > My understanding is that Vormetric uses a piece of tin on the side to do > the encryption. > > -- > Cheers, > Obnoxio The Clown > > http://obotheclown.blogspot.com > > > > _______________________________________________ > Informix-list mailing list > Informix-list@iiug.org > http://www.iiug.org/mailman/listinfo/informix-list _________________________________________________________________ When your life is on the go—take your life with you. http://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/115298558/direct/01/
