Function Keys

ROB@dssmktg.com (Robert Minter) wrote about a problem with the function keys being off by one in Informix. This comes from the fact that Informix does things a little differently than standard Unix. Informix does F1 - F10 as termcap entries K0 - K9 while 'normal' Unix termcaps use F1 - F10 as termcap entries K1 - K0. The easiest solution is to use the termcap file provided by Informix or be brave and write your own. The same problem exists for terminfo but Informix doesn't provide a terminfo library. If you are on a system thar prefers to use terminfo, you can probably get by specifying a termcap path and telling Informix to use it (INFORMIXTERM) and hoping that the rest of Unix will ignore this and use terminfo anyway. Our installations always use a shell script anyway so I set things like that in there. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Miguel A. Caldera !
