The format for the JDBC 4 driver from Informix uses the following format: "jdbc:informix-sqli://myhost:port/database:informixserver=online_tcp" In my experience, the "port" value has to be a real number and NOT an alias. Therefore, if /etc/services had "port 1500/tcp", the above URL would not work. Is this the way it works or is it a "temporary feature"? I don't like hard coding stuff! I am using the JDBC 2.0 driver running IDS 9.2 on Redhat 6.2. TIA Steve Romankiw
Hi Steve, The JNDI/LDAP features in Informix JDBC 2.10 might do what you want (page 55 of the Informix JDBC Driver Programmer's Guide UNIX and Windows Environments, Version 2.1), otherwise the best thing to do would be to define a properties file for this URL and other things you want to be configurable post compile time. ben "Steve Romankiw" <sromankiw@execrisk.com> wrote in message news:8i89gm$nm9$1@news.xmission.com... > > The format for the JDBC 4 driver from Informix uses the following format: > > "jdbc:informix-sqli://myhost:port/database:informixserver=online_tcp" > > In my experience, the "port" value has to be a real number and NOT an alias. > Therefore, if /etc/services had "port 1500/tcp", the above URL would not > work. > > Is this the way it works or is it a "temporary feature"?
