Re: Some Pointers for a DBA "to be"

In addition to the excellent book recommendations already posted, you may also take the new Informix training course "Managing and Optimizing for the Informix BaaN Environment." It is scheduled in Chicago and Sacremento in Q1 of '99. The course is designed for the beginner to both environments. See the web site of the International Informix Users Group at http://www.iiug.org for a pretty comprehensive list of Informix- related publications, and an excellent software library. Another thing you may find there is another archive of the newsgroup comp.databases.informix, in whose pages you can find extensive discussions on what the DBA does.
