moving one database
Posted in 2000
I will be attempting to move our training database to another disk soon. I
would like to use dbexport and dbimport, and have created a separate
dbspace comprised of two chunks for import. Currently both databases are
in the same dbspace. I chose to move train into a separate dbspace as that
way we have the option of restoring only one of our two databases from
tape. My questions are:
1) By using dbexport/dbimport, I understand that the table permissions for
users will be preserved, but are there any other items that will not be
preserved that I will have to recreate after I do the import?
2) What I understand is that I will not need a separate engine, but will I
need to setup separate shared memory or other structures?
3) Will our current ontape still function to archive both databases, even
if they are in separate dbspaces?
4) For those in the CARS list, will that affect any future updates in CARS
software?
