DATABASE statement and sqlrm

I asked, a couple of days ago, about syntax and usage of the database statement in 4GLs. It appears that the question was actually about using the relay module or sqlrm. We have a number of installs with SE 7.20 and 4GL 4.11. A number of sites have complained about slow downs that now appear to be related to using sqlrm and/or problems with update statistics. The Informix web sites has been down for several days now so I'm asking here if someone can fill me in on the use of sqlrm, when is it called/not called. Can the slow downs be cured by upgrading our 4GL? I've noticed on my Linux system (SE 7.24 UC5 with 4GL 7.20 UD7) that sqlrm is not called at all. Finally, what does this entail for clients (ie new runtimes)? -- --------------------------------------------------------------------- Scott Holmes http://www.pacificnet.net/~sholmes sholmes@pacificnet.net Independent Programmer/Analyst Passport 4GL HTML Composer Informix 4GL, SQL --------------------------------------------------------------------- There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi! sqlrm is only used whan you have old 4GL and a new database engine. It slows things down considerably. The best for you is to upgrade customers to a current version for 4GL and SE, re-compile all programs and skip sqlrm. Make sure you stick to a specific version for all customers and your development license as 7.20UC6, 7.20UC7 and 7.20UE are completely incompatible (at least in RDS version).
