multidb access?

I know that this will be a very basic question but.... How do I open mutliple databases for access? I am running OnLine 5.01 on an HP847 running HPUX9.01 with 5 db instances. I want to have access to multiple instances within my 4gl/esql/sql. I am under the assumption that this is possible. Any help would be appreciated.
