hi all, I have a question for you friends, I have just do the folowing test: I have create in a specified dbspace. when i have loaded 1000000 rows into it the dbspace where the table reside have 49460 free pages. then I have created 2 indexes, the number of free pages becames 39460. then i have droped the 2 indexes but the number of free pages is still 39460. I don't know why the free space of the dbspace has not increased. I have done this test because I have a none used indexes for big tables, so i have droped them to have more space. but the free space has not increased. I do update statisctics for table .., after drop, but no change ! I want to know what I am missing ??? Thanks a lot ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
Unless you created the index as a seperate partition (CREATE INDEX ......... IN <DBSPACE>), then the index would have been built in pages associated with the tablespace partition. Those pages would not be freed when the index was dropped but would remain in the tablespace. samir BADAOUI wrote: > hi all, > I have a question for you friends, > I have just do the folowing test: > I have create in a specified dbspace. when i have loaded 1000000 rows into > it the dbspace where the table reside have 49460 free pages. then I have > created 2 indexes, the number of free pages becames 39460. then i have > droped the 2 indexes but the number of free pages is still 39460.
