Restoring archive without logical logs -Reply
Posted in 1996
Original post below sig. I am a little confused by this. Shouldn't a system be able to be restored to the last level 0 archive cleanly? OK you lose everything since that archive if you haven't saved your logs. But I would expect the restore itself to succeed??? -- -- Peter Tashkoff <tashkop@kiwi.co.nz> Project Consultant/DBA NZ Kiwifruit Marketing Board Usual Disclaimers Apply Use of this posting by any commercial organisation for the purposes of vilifying another is explicitly prohibited >>> gosport <gosport@pobox.oleane.net> 11/May/1996 01:34am >>> Does anyone know how to restore a level 0 archive without the logical logs and without patching the rootdbs ??? We had this problem on our HP9000 K200 running DSA 7.12, and we tortured the engineer from Informix until he patched the rootdbs so that we could go on-line without restoring the logical logs (we hadn't saved'em all the way). Note that there is no mention about the 'compulsarity' of continuously saving the logical logs in the DSA administrator guide... Valery FOUQUES, GOSPORT, FRANCE
