Neal, old bean, history has shown you know your stuff, but I still must disagree at least in the context of 2 way Sparc 1000E + Solaris 2.4. I still contend Informix would and could not do such a sorry job of MP locking/coordination so as to chew up the entire second processor and then some, which is what it would take to produce less throughput than one processor alone. This in spite of the fact that's precisely what their documentation says they did.... Yes - I am talking about a pure database engine server, with very little else going on on the machine... i've tried it both ways, and i like both processors, with 2 cpuvps and PDQ MUCH better than i like one of everything... -- Greg Moye Electronic Data Systems Corp. - Plano TX
