I think it's a POSIX/API limit. The problem is their is no "standard" way to
deal with >2Gb paritions/files on 32bit platforms as the file pointer can't be
recorded as a single C int. Informix would have to implement each OS's method
of dealing with large files, making portability and cross-platform maint just
that much harder. The real solution is a 64bit platform & OS, not that they
won't eventually find some workable solution on 32bit platforms.
Just thought i'd throw in my bit.
