FW: Repairing A table
Posted in 2000
Another thing I've noticed, but I don't know if it still applies to IDS2000,
is that you have to bring the engine to quiescent mode if you want to repair
the table (maybe it was just a "feature" in the version I was using at the
time).
I could still do it online, and I would even get the messages "Do you want
to repair .....", but it wasn't done. It was only done in quiescent mode.
Checking it was fine in online mode though.
Does anyone have any comments on this, other than you need exclusive access
to the table .... ?
Dirk

Are you using SE or OnLine? If you're using SE, use bcheck (or
secheck); oncheck won't help at all. Either use DB-Access and 'repair
table tablename' or simply run bcheck on the C-ISAM file that contains
the table to be repaired. This is roughly what Robert Stuart told you,
too.
If you're using OnLine, then neither bcheck nor secheck is any use and
only oncheck can assist. You would need to look at the manual to find
the options to use (mainly because I'm too lazy to go to the manual and
find them for you!). In case of doubt, the manuals can be downloaded
from http://www.informix.com/answers/.
