HDR - Want Asynchronous

Solaris 10 - SPARC IDS 11.50.FC7 I wanted to rebuild a few indexes. I dropped them and wrote an sql to recreate them. While I had replication going, it would stop after each index and send it to the secondary. I thought that it was because I has Synchronous replication set up with DRINTERVAL set -1. (I thought a while back I had changed it, but it appeared to be synchronous after each index creation even if they were extremely quick. When I looked in my $ONCONFIG file, I found that I had changed it at some previous time to 30; but it seems like it is still in synchronous mode. Do I need to set HDR_TXN_SCOPE as well or does it not work in Growth Edition or what? I am trying to speed up transactions a little. Larry
blockquote, div.yahoo_quoted { margin-left: 0 !important; border-left:1px #715FFA solid !important; padding-left:1ex !important; background-color:white !important; } The index build itself is not logged, only the fact that an index was created is logged. Therefor when the index is created on the primary it will be sent to the secondary as soon as the index is actually created. It doesn't matter if DRINTERVAL is -1 or 30. The behavior is the same in either case. HDR_TXN_SCOPE is for using updatable secondary systems. In order the improve the performance of transactions your would need to use DRINTERVAL, but your might consider setting it to a low number such as 1, not 30. You would need to assess your risk tolerance however because that would create the possibility that a transaction that had been committed might not be on the secondary in the event of a failure of the primary. We did some work in later releases that changed the way a transaction's commit and HDR transfer worked in later releases. This allowed the transaction's commit and the HDR transfer to be decoupled so that the log buffer would be released quicker, thus improving overall performance a bit. Also it allowed more critical transactions to be sync while others were a sync. But in order for you to get that functionality, your would need to move to a much later release level.
