I wonder what the ideal configuration for an IBM machine with 01TB P7-780 Ram for the parameters and PHYSBUFF and LOGBUFF with replication and without replication thank you very much Wanderlei - Intera Consultoria (55+11) 6707-3778
If your databases are all UNBUFFERED LOG (my preference for safety) then the logical log buffer size should be about 2x - 3x the size of a typical transaction depending on the number of concurrent transactions you expect. If all of your databases are BUFFERED LOG then the size of the logical log buffer will depend on how much data you are willing to risk if the server crashes with a committed transaction that's still in the log buffer and hasn't been flushed to disk yet versus how much extra speed you want over having made the database UNBUFFERED. That's a trade off that's your call. Physical log buffer, similarly, should be fairly small so that relatively little of the pre-images are at risk during a hard crash. Your call, I usually set this between 32K & 64K. Art Art S.
