Re: Summary: Error on IWA initialization:Assert SE
Posted in 2012
Thread starts with an IWA startup failure (assertion "str.tellg() > 0", invalid SEND_QUEUE_SIZE), which IBM's Martin Fuerderer attributed to a changed tellg() behaviour in GNU libstdc++ 4.6.0+; it can also stop queries being accelerated, so the advice was to avoid libstdc++ 4.6.x with IWA while a permanent fix was developed. The thread then drifts to Nitin's "Add Accelerator" failure ("Function contains an output parameter"), caused by running IDS on an unsupported Solaris x86_64 box; after moving to Linux he hit a coordinator-unreachable error, solved by opening the port and rebooting.

Hi, a late response ... and even to the origin of a long thread of e-mails ... Meanwhile we have established, that the described problem is due to changed behaviour of the function tellg(). This new behaviour of tellg() appears with the GNU Standard C++ Library (libstdc++) of version 4.6.0 or higher. Unfortunately, the problems caused by this are not only confined to the configuration routines of the Informix Warehouse Accelerator. Also the parsing of queries sent from the Informix Server to the accelerator is affected. This can result in queries not being accelerated. Hence the recommendation is to refrain from using libstdc++ 4.6.0 or newer with the Informix Warehouse Accelerator. There is also an (updated) blog entry (currently it's the newest entry) in "The IWA-Blog" at http://tinyurl.com/the-iwa-blog Look for "Linux systems with libstdc++ 4.6.x". We are working on solving the problem permanently, but at this time we do not expect to have the solution included in the upcoming release of 11.70.FC5 of the Informix Warehouse Accelerator. Hi, I am in process of evaluating IWA for my organisation and I have installed IWA on Centos while the ISAOS is installed on my PC. I have managed to install and start the IWA and below is what I see when I run status and getpin [root@iwa1 bin]# ./ondwa status ID | Role | Cat-Status | HB-Status | Hostname | System ID -----+-------------+-------------+--------------+------------------+------------ 0 | COORDINATOR | ACTIVE | Healthy | iwa1 | 1 1 | WORKER | ACTIVE | Healthy | iwa1 | 2 [root@iwa1 bin]# ./ondwa getpin 192.78.139.170 21022 6039 When I connect my ISAOS to an IDS instance on 11.70 and then try to add above accelerator, I get an error 'Add Accelerator' has encountered a problem. Function contains an output parameter. Below are the lines in the log file on my PC !ENTRY com.ibm.datatools.aqt 1 0 2012-07-19 12:02:36.080 !MESSAGE Calling ACCEL_SETUP_CONNECTION for accelerator IWA in database tickdb. Hi,
Have you created an sbspace (sbspace1 in the example below) and have the
following entry in your $ONCONFIG? If you have to create and add the entry to
$ONCONFIG, you do need to restart the server.
SBSPACENAME sbspace1 # Default sbspace name
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/idshelp/v117/topic/com.ibm.acc.doc/ids_
acc_019.htm
The Informix procedures interacting with IWA use CLOB type and need the
sbspace.
cheers, Keshav.
Thanks Keshav for the reply, but yes, I had created the sbspace when I saw
ondwa setup informing me, see below
@tickdb2$ onstat -c|grep sbspacefor system statistics
SBSPACENAME sbspace
SYSSBSPACENAME sbspace
CDR_QDATA_SBSPACE sbspace
@tickdb2$ onstat -d|grep sbspace11c19c378 10 0x48001 10 1 2048 N SBA informix sbspace
Now I have made things more difficult as I thought I had some issues with
Studio, so I un-installed it and when I am try to install it back, it is
complaining about "profile directory not found" although I am trying to run
below from command prompt
C:\\\\IWA> install -Dprofile="c:\\\\iwa\\\\profile.zip"
where profile.zip is the media I downloaded from IBM website.
regards,
Nitin
Pls ignore the 2nd part about the installation problem of ISAOS. regards, Nitin
When I tried to add Accelerator, I noticed below in message log of IDS
16:43:17 Loading Module <$INFORMIXDIR/lib/libdwa.udr>

But it still failed to add Accelerator on Studio, giving the same error
'Add Accelerator' has encountered a problem. Function contains an output

Please help.

Nitin,
Thanks for your interest in the Warehouse Accelerator.
Can you send us the result of this command?
ondwa status
I guess you have followed the steps in the manual.

Please let us know versions of IDS and IWA:
onstat -versionondwa -version
Did you installed IWA on the same or different machine than IDS?
Whats the content of IWA config file $INFORMIXDIR/dwa/etc/dwainst.conf ?
Thanks,
Andreas

Thanks for your responses. I have installed IDS and IWA on different servers. I identified the problem. IDS 11.70 which I was trying to connect was installed on Solaris on x86_64, which I guess is not supported. When I started to use a new instance on Linux Centos, it went ahead but gave another error "A coordinator node with the network address "192.78.139.170":21022" could not be reached. (AQT10119I)" Below are the outputs for getpin and status [root@iwa1 bin]# ./ondwa getpin 192.78.139.170 21022 9254 [root@iwa1 bin]# ./ondwa status ID | Role | Cat-Status | HB-Status | Hostname | System ID -----+-------------+-------------+--------------+------------------+------------ 0 | COORDINATOR | ACTIVE | Healthy | iwa1 | 1 1 | WORKER | ACTIVE | Healthy | iwa1 | 2 Cluster is in state : Fully Operational Expected node count : 1 coordinator and 1 worker nodes Please help. regards, Nitin
It worked. I had to enable port 22 and reboot the server. Thanks for your responses. regards, Nitin
