Given that all their effort with the Informix product set is to try and merge the code (ha! ha!) it would seem odd that they are going to hive off some DB2-lite just for SMBs. So I suspect the technology will be the same as the more expensive products, and no feature-bloat-reduction will occur. Plus, have you ever tried to do business with IBM? I recently saw someone turned down for a trivial amount of credit -- because they were a small business. I'd have been horrified to be turned down for the amount in question in my personal capacity. So, all the reasons why small customers stay away from DB2 in droves at the moment will obviously disappear because some marketing droid came up with a snappy name. Can anyone tell me what a "polished turd" is? :o)
