For the sqlhosts file, if you have two servers (primary and secondary for HDR), will the sqlhosts file have 3 entries? Primary One for shared memory with name of primary and two for tcp(one for each server)? Secondary Same thing(3 entries) except for shared memory, it will have name of secondary The shared memory will go under DBSERVERNAME and the two tcp will go under DBSERVERALIASES in the onconfig file Is that correct?
blockquote, div.yahoo_quoted { margin-left: 0 !important; border-left:1px #715FFA solid !important; padding-left:1ex !important; background-color:white !important; } I wouldn't use a shared memory connection because of the issues that it will cause if a failover is required. Client applications will not automatically failover when using a shared memory connection. I would create a group entry consisting of both the primary and the secondary. That way when you connect via the group name you will be connected to the current primary which will simplify failover of your application programs upon a failover. Pretty much, yes. Sometime folks will put an entry for the shared mem connection name for the other system with the TCP details.
