sql causes server crash

Trying to get data from sysmaster (dbtest1) and store them in a database on
a second server (dbtest2) I created a query:
Script runs on dbtest2.
#!/bin/sh
# waits_error.sh
. /home/informix/.informix2.rc # set environment
exec dbaccess onstat@dbtest1_tli - <<eof
insert into onstat@dbtest1_tli:waittab
select "$INFORMIXSERVER", current zeitpunkt, round (sum(cumtime/1000000),0)
, reason
from sysmaster@dbtest2_tli:sysseswts where reason != "condition"
and cumtime > 1000
and sid not in ( select sid from sysmaster@dbtest2_tli:syssessions where pid= $
$ )
group by 2,4;
eof
Running the query causes a reproducible crash of the server (dbtest2).
Solaris 9, IDS 9.40FC4
Feels for me like a bug that the server crashes. Or is it simply silly to
put queries on sysmaster in this way because it's not a real database but a
shared memory structure?
Any comments are welcome,
Reinhard.
Bug.
send it to TS so it can be fixed.

I believe you have encountered a bug I have seen this bug on our systems and it's not very nice. It has nothing to do with running a query against the sysmaster database. It seems to occur when you have a number of mathematical functions grouped together in one statement like above. You may be able to work around it by splitting your mathematical statements up into smaller pieces in multiple statements. I am pretty sure it's fixed in 9.40.UC7 and above (9.40.UC8 latest), it's definitely still a bug in 9.40.UC5. I've never experienced it in any v10 release. I recommend you upgrade. Ben.
Whether you should or should not run queries against sysmaster is
irrelevant, this should not take the server down. Call ITS
