I answer you with a question (actually two) Does de view optimize the performance on a select cursor? How does a view receive parameters? Im using Online Dynamic Server 7.3 (i think) Thank in advance. Ideally, it should not impact the performance of a SELECT statement, either positively or negatively, compared with writing out the equivalent SELECT statement using the base tables. Using a view probably makes writing the SELECT easier. > How does a view receive parameters? In general, it doesn't. You can achieve a small measure of parameterization with keywords like USER and TODAY, but that's about it. > Im using Online Dynamic Server 7.3 (i think) I see no question about UNION in this message. You can only use UNION views if you have 7.3 databases (not sure whether you need 7.31 or whether 7.30 is OK). -- Yours, Jonathan Leffler (Jonathan.Leffler@Informix.com) #include <disclaimer.h> Guardian of DBD::Informix v1.00.PC1 -- http://www.perl.com/CPAN "I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it!"
