RE: Restore problem : urgent

The problem is that ANY tape you write on your DLT8000 can never be read by your DLT4000!!!! If the machines are on the same network you can use the drive on host A to restore on host B ... TAPEDEV Hosta:/dev/whatever (in onconfig of host B of course) -----Original Message----- From: owner-informix-list@iiug.iiug.org [mailto:owner-informix-list@iiug.iiug.org]On Behalf Of K.Hong Lee Sent: Friday, December 08, 2000 2:30 AM To: Brett Randall; informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: Restore problem : urgent I don't have another server with DLT8000. My objective is to restore a table which sits on shared dbspace. Host A - N class - live 2 x DLT8000 1 x DAT/DDS Host B - K580 - development 2 x DLT4000 1 x DAT/DSS The only way to recover restore the prev backup tape on host B. it's possible to move data on the backup tape from DLT8000 to DAT on the same server. eg. dd if=/dev/rmt/2m(DLT8000) of=/dev/rmt/0m (DAT)? I'm not sure what is the raw block size informix is using... so that I can carry this DAT to host B and restore from then. Thanks in advance.
