All, I'm an Oracle DBA trying to convert an Informix Database to Oracle. Sorry, corporate decision. I need to get some debug statements to display at various points. What is the Informix equivalent for the Oracle prompt command or the UNIX echo command? Thanks for your help ...JIM...

In Informixland we would likely make that script/procedure you are trying to write into a simple 4GL program. Using R4GL (the pcode version) it is not any more painful than writing stored procedures in Oracle using the full PL/SQL syntax. 4GL is one major reason Informix's SQL never contained the massive number of programming extensions that Oracle's has, with 4GL we just never needed them.
