Looking at DICE, why would a fully staffed IDS shop need another body? And usually they find someone from other channels. Like word of mouth. That's one nice thing about the community. We tend to look out for ourselves. Unlike the Oracle community which anyone who can cram for a test can pass their certifications, and still not know jack. BTW, Oracle's spatial is pretty slow. It blows. R-Tree and not Quad- Tree which we know already sucks.
