You just have to create the database with de_de.Cp273 locales, i.e. set the DB_LOCALE variable to de_de.Cp273 then create the database. If you already have the database you'll have to export the database, drop it, set the DB_LOCALE parameter and import the database. We want to give the facility of sorting the data on the client using the German characters i.e we want the sorting to be carried out in Localised order and not based on the Code set. > For this we have made the necesasary changes in the datatypes of the strings (from varchar to nvarchar) > > We tried DB_LOCAL and CLIENT_LOCALE parameters for the JDBC Database URL string but it doesnot seem to work. The sort order that we are getting is still based on 8859-1Code set and not on Cp273 Code set which specifies German Characters. > > We used the following url to connect to the database using JDBC 2.0 driver > > java LocaleDemo jdbc:informix-sqli://dbsvr:1526/wukorelease:informixserver=wukodbsvr;user=informix;password=informix;CLIENT_LOCALE=de_de.Cp273;DB > _LOCALE=de_de.Cp273 > > The DB_LOCALE on the Informix Server host (NT Server) is en_us.1252. > > Are we missing out on anything? > > How do we make use of the Java's Internationalization features here? > > Any information on the above will be appreciated. > > Thanking you in advance, > > Regards > > -- > Anil Kulkarni. > > L&T Information Technology Ltd., Pune, India. > > Tel : 91 20 5530813 > > http://www.ltitl.com -- Octav Chiriac Phone: (373) 2 22 99 67 NetInfo S.R.L.
