Informix v15 Developer Edition
Posted in 2026
Mark Scranton could not find the Informix 15 Developer Edition download. Mike Walker described the IBM site route, and John Lengyel and Art Kagel discussed 15.0.1 availability. Problems included entitlement errors, a 404 on the license installer and missing 15.0.1 packages for Sebastien Flaesch. John later removed some entitlement checks; Hedwig Fuchs said downloads worked after clearing cache.

Been away for awhile ... no luck locating the download for Informix v15 Developer Edition for Linux. Checked HCL and IBM. Anyone? Bueller? Thanks! Hey Mark, I expect that there are multiple ways to get here, but this worked for me: Go here: https://www.ibm.com/products/informix Click on "Try the Developer Edition" You'll need to fill in the Business Contact Information and press Submit (note this didn't display in Edge for me, but showed up okay in Chrome) Login with your credentials (you likely already have these to post here) Then you should be able to browse for it ------------------------------ Mike Walker xDB Systems, Inc www.xdbsystems.com ------------------------------
Just sidling up to this convo to mention that you should be able to get a recent 15.0.1 developer edition using this same mechanism. 15.0.0.2 is so 2025. ------------------------------ John Lengyel ------------------------------
Good point John! It was just the first one that I came across when scrolling through the long list of downloads! ------------------------------ Mike Walker xDB Systems, Inc www.xdbsystems.com ------------------------------
John: The latest Developer Edition available on the IBM site is 15.0.0.1. The latest Evaluation Edition on the HCL site is 15.0.1.4. Indeed the latest Informix available anywhere that I can find is the Production Enterprise Edition on the HCL site for licensed users is 15.0.1.8! It looks like 15.0.2.0 has not passed QA far enough to be posted yet. Art ------------------------------ Art S. Thanks John - pleasure to see you jumping in. I talked with a contact at HCL and she said they only sell/post the full version(s), so not the Developer Edition. Odd eh? We are again (as always) faced with "where do I download stuff?" ... I remember this being awful for clients back in the 90's. The DE I downloaded for Linux ... does it require an installer file? Naw - haven't untar'd it yet. Recall that when I tried to download the installer file I got a 404/page not found. I thought 14 changed the install method to require the product tar AND an installer file? Can someone set me straight? Thanks! Mark: IBM Informix Developer Edition is the default Edition that installs when you do not have any license file. HCL only has Enterprise Edition, but you can get a Time Limited Edition from HCL. Hi, I tried to download ibm.editionInstaller.tl.15.0.1.0 and got "No applicable IBM support agreement found for one or more of the products you selected.". We've confirmed on our end a couple of the problems reported here. Very sorry for the inconvenience. Give us till next week and I'll get back to you with an update. Tx. -jc ------------------------------ John Lengyel ------------------------------
The discussion around IBM Informix v15 Developer Edition mainly highlights that Informix 15 introduced major scalability improvements, including support for "large tables" using 8-byte row IDs, while still allowing compatibility with older "small table" structures. Community experts explained that legacy client SDKs can still work if databases only use small tables, but newer SDK 15 clients are required for full large-table support. Users in the forum also discussed download availability, licensing, developer edition access, and expectations for long-term support, with IBM positioning Informix 15 as a modernized and scalable release for future deployments. leather jackets ------------------------------ Jason John ------------------------------
My promised update: Edition Installers, along with the initial 15.0.1.0 server media, are now available at: https://www.ibm.com/resources/ mrs/assets/packageList?source= ifxids&lang=en_US The Entitlement check (key icon) has been removed from FixCentral for these client and "time-limited" edition installers. You can download them from FixCentral. The platform media alone is a Developer Edition and should also have the entitlement check removed starting with 15.0.1.10, expected by 5/31/2026. You can apply any 15.0.1.0 Edition Installer into any 15.0.1.x server media. ------------------------------ John Lengyel ------------------------------
Hi, Downloaded platform media dn aetl license installer! When I go to the link provided and search for "15.0.1 Developer License" I see Informix Developer Edition License Installer 15.0.1.0 When I select that, continue and try to download via http I get a "404 error" Regards, David. ------------------------------ David Williams Senior Database Platform Engineer Flutter London ------------------------------
Sorry for the problem David. We're working on a fix for the 404 error now. Meanwhile the DE license isn't really needed since that is the default, so I'm hoping this isn't a blocker for you. ------------------------------ John Lengyel ------------------------------
Hi John, Sorry if I a missing something, but I can't find the 15.0.1 server or csdk packages on the download site (filtering with "15.0.1"): ------------------------------ Sebastien FLAESCH ------------------------------ My promised update: Edition Installers, along with the initial 15.0.1.0 server media, are now available at: https://www.ibm.com/resources/ mrs/assets/packageList?source= ifxids&lang=en_US The Entitlement check (key icon) has been removed from FixCentral for these client and "time-limited" edition installers. Hmmm do you see anything there? I even to not need to filter. The versions are on top in my list. ------------------------------ Hedwig Fuchs ------------------------------
Hi Hedwig, Maybe your account has more permissions than mine? With my account, without any filter, I can only see 14.10.* and 15.0.0.* IDS versions (no 15.0.1.*) https://www.ibm.com/resources/mrs/assets/packageList?source=ifxids&lang=en_US See screenshot, with descending sorting on "Offering" column: Next pages show 15.0.0.2, but no 15.0.1.*: ------------------------------ Sebastien FLAESCH ------------------------------
Sebastien: There is definitely something hinky with your privs. I see 15.0.1 without any filtering as well: It is a problem, however, that the latest release that is there is 15.0.1.0 and not 15.0.1.<latest> which is 15.0.1.10! I'll reach out to IBM and see about getting that updated. Art Art S. Thank you Art, lucky guy. Is there something I should do to get more privileges? If this is the reason, I do not understand IBM's strategy to deny access to Informix Developer Editions for ... developers like us. And why would I have access to older versions like 14.10 and 15.0.0.x, but not 15.0.1.x ? Is the download site app buggy? If the goal is to try to make money with developers instead of final users, it's a wrong strategy: FYI, people already move from Informix DB in favor to open source solutions like PostgreSQL. Intentionally denying access (or having messy access permissions) will not help us to promote Informix DB. Just give access to Informix DB Developer Editions to ANYONE. What is the risk for IBM? I wish I would spend more time on implementing new features than struggling with download permissions. Seb ------------------------------ Sebastien FLAESCH ------------------------------

I absolutely agree with you Sebastien! I made that point to the Informix Product Manager a little while ago. Why are we not putting our best foot forward in the presence of the latest and greatest releases on the public download site? Honestly, I do not think that it is a permission issue. Gerd: Unfortunately , v15.0.1.8 has been GA for more than a month and v15.0.1.10 has been out for a couple of weeks now. Both should be available on FixCentral and ESPECIALLY on the free downloads site (MRS: https://www.ibm.com/forms/mkt-32091 ). Art Art S. Gents - It's hard to keep up with the latest here (with 29 replies or so) to what should be a real simple request. My initial request was for the 14 or 15 Dev Edition, but has morphed into questions for the Time-Limited installer, which I'm trying to get now as well. I'm still getting the 404 when trying to download Informix 15.0 Time Limited edition for Linux. JC - are we any closer to getting this solved, and without issues around permisssions, etc? I also notice that in my VM, using Ubuntu 24, the Developer Edition install wants java 8 for it's JVM? That can't be right - current version is 26. Thanks for the help!
