Re: How to backup 1 terabyte database on a timely manner?

Onbar, a storage manager (i.e. Legato or Veritas...), and a *bunch* of big, fast tape drives. I recently heard of an SAP system based on Informix that's >>500GB big being backed up in 90 minutes. For really huge databases its all a question of enough resources (CPU, memory, system bus, fiber channels etc) to support the compression and bandwidth required. You could probably do a terabyte or more an hour if you throw enough money at it. It's a question of deciding what you need and balancing it against what you're willing / able to spend. Chao Y.
