IDC then creates a quantitative market model of revenue for each software vendor that includes checks and balances to verify a particular vendors revenue and its relationship to the total industry. If the model detects a contradiction between quantitative data (annual reports and 10K reports), and qualitative data that is supplied from a software vendor (an estimate from the vendor), IDC will publish the quantitative data. *Annual reports conform to the Financial Accounting Standards Board's guidelines. 10K reports are consistent with the security & Exchange Commission standards. To give you more information: Worldwide UNIX RDBMS 1994 Software License Revenue Oracle $1,010.2 42.5% Sybase 468.6 19.7% Informix 392.3 16.5% CA/Ingres 113.1 4.8% That is what the above marketshare numbers are derived from, Overall DBMS revenue in the Unix marketplace during 1994. >Sybase has 19.7% of what??
