UNLOAD question.

Huy, I am trying to 'unload' a table, drop it, re-create it & load it back up. There are certain columns that have been defined as char which contain either 'spaces' or 'nulls'. ex : if a row has the following values : A 09987 null PPK spaces Y the 'unloaded' data looks like this : A|09987||PPK||Y| The problem is, when I load this data back into the table, the row looks like this : A 09987 null PPK null Y Truly speaking, the unloaded data should look like this : A|09987||PPK| |Y| (note : there is a space between 'PPK' and 'Y') Is there a solution to this ?? I have around 15 columns which are either 'nulls' or 'spaces'. Is there any other utility which I can use? Thanks. Suhas Suhas Tembe Home : (770)-803-0161 Email : stembe@msn.com Place : Atlanta, GA
Oops, I forgot, I have Informix 7.24 running on HP-9000. Thanks. Try dbexport with -x option - this will unload your data in hexadecimal
format, that save your 'spaces'. Hope, this help.
