Hello comp.databases.informix
When I run my batch (RDS) 4gl program, I get the following error:
4GL run-time error number -4339.
4GL has run out of data space memory.
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `fix2.run'
This is a fairly simply program that selects approx. 30,000 records out
of a database, looks for a string in a particular column, replaces it
with another string and output the result in a report. When I can fix
this problem, it will also update the database too!
At first I thought it might be the "Temporary String Space" problem which
appears in many of the NET Informix FAQs, particularly as I am using
string literals in function calls. However I added and called the
"tss_hog" functions mentioned in the FAQ to prove whether the TSS
contained any data, and these functions gave my program the "all clear".
We are running the following versions of Informix on a Sun Sparc10 (with
80 meg memory):
INFORMIX-SQL Version 4.12.UD1
INFORMIX-4GL Version 4.12.UD1
Pcode Version 8
INFORMIX-Online RSAM Version 5.02.UC6
(with 22meg allocated to shared mem)
We are an RDS only environment, so I can't compile the program and the
system doco for this error suggests that this is a compile time error and
that should I make my program smaller and try again. (....but this is
happening at runtime!!!)
Help!
thanks in advance
