Informix has always had a marketing edge in selling their staff at premium rates. After all they have proprietary expertise on hand. (Like the source code ;-) Being certified means that at least I took the time to read the manual and understand it enough to regurgitate a passable response. What certification does not replace is things like IEEE and ACM membership. Degrees in Engineering from a 4 year University. Client referals. Having displayed knowlege of a clients business. Knowing how to write clean code the first time. These things are important. Certification does not guarantee this. I doubt that I will take the time to get certified. Informix / Sybase / Oracle / NeXT etc ... Not to mention CEUs .. All this comes from my pocket. [ Plus my own internet domain ;-] -Mikey
