What type of database do these companies use? Which company I mean?

The last time I talked to someone from the database shop at K-Mart, they were using Oracle and connecting to it through Win-95 via ODBC. Of course, that's been ages ago, but I can't imagine they'd have found a reason to change yet....
I know that Wal-Mart is using DB2 UDB for their on-line store. They made a big deal about at IDUG last year. -Mark McNary Lee wrote: > What type of database do these companies use? Which company I mean?
I worked for Wal-Mart for 3.5 years. (major hellhole, btw). WM has over 2500 stores, each with their own Unix server running Informix version 7. The Home Office has a mixture of legacy mainframe, lots of Unix running Informix 7 on a mixture of HP, NCR, and very few AIX machines. I am not aware of any Oracle in the entire shop, although I think a few teams evaluated it a bit. And yes, they have Teradata for their data warehouse stuff.
