Client Server Comunication

I have Informix server 7.30 UC7 running on Linux suse 6.4 and client sdk 2.4 TC1-2 on Windows '98. When the client application connects to the server there are more than 50.000 packages between them Is it so much? (each packages have 2 bytes of data) Other question: When i execute: rpm -qi csdk on my server machine i get the next infomation: name: csdk version: 2.10.UC3 But my client CD is the client sdk 2.4 TC1-2 '?
