In the modern business climate however, where image is the key its likely those execs never really saw or will see the trenches directly. Informix is guilty of attemting to generate that high-level image to attract the "big-fish" out in "quota-pond", so are the other so-called "big" players in the game. Like *any* company they have problems, and like any company they have customers cryin the blues over it. That being said, they do have a good product line , sure they are spending maybe too much time trying to add "marketable value" in the form of new functionality as opposed to devoting resource to fixing all the bugs in what they have currently, but thats business today for all the players casting their lot out in "quota-pond". The perceptions on the "new market" overshadow the reality of the curent one, in my experience thats been true of all the vendors (and a few of my employers as well). I do know that Informix does have some truly good people in their organization that care for their products and consequently their customers, but you can only spread people so thin, and lets face it, a support desk handles how many "I'm just dying to prove I'm a dough-head" calls per day :-) A lot of what you have read on this thread is steam-release material and should be digested as such.
