moving IDS 7.30 from a server to another
Posted in 2000
Hi, I have to move a databasse from one server to another. The old database is installed on a 300Go e3500 sun storage connected by SCSI to a e4500 server. This space is full, I so need to move it to another storage. The new one is the same except it has 2tera bytes (using 36Go HD). This database is used for SAP things and shouldn't be stop for too long I so found 3 solutions : -using a "dd" of the devices through the network. This is not supported and not secure -stopping everything on the database, backuping the old one and restoring on the new one. This one is fine but needs 2 days of stop (backup + restore + restart on new server) -warm backup of the old database, restore on the new server, make the new server be a replica of the old one, finaly switch users to the new server. This one is full non stop. The replication is made with HDR. Informix support told me it was possible. Has anyone experienced that before ? Maybe there is a 4th solution even better ?? :) our priority are data consistency and a down time as short as possible...
