Hi All, Here is what I think... take it for what it's worth to you (if anything). Mike Ripley wrote: > Why should I believe you and not Jeff Hudson!! It's very easy, actually. If you have a reason to believe that NewEra is dying (or dead) and/or are trying to build an argument not to purchase or replace the tool -- then that is a message you can use. Rumors and inaccurate information about happenings are not in short supply these days... sometimes even within the company. These is only exaggerated by the trade press that we sometimes place a little too much faith in. If an official Informix representative, Christine Shannon (usergrp@informix.com), posts something to this newsgroup with a title such as: "Informix's Official NewEra Three Year Plan" I would act on the premise that this is the official Informix position on things. If at some point, it looks like that Informix is backing off on a stated position then the company needs to be called to account. Period. Then it is a matter of either explaining and repromising or delivering, pure common sense and courtesy. I wouldn't say that, in the past, we have done a stellar job of it... but this isn't your father's Informix. Our CEO (and most of the executive staff -- Jeff Hudson included) is, by necessity, operationally removed from the day-to-day decision making process about the management of products. What the executive team can be held to account for is performance on publicly stated goals and plans. In the end, if you note a discrepancy between Informix's actions and promised results. Then work it until it gets resolved for you. I am not suggesting that you take any plans or goals as gospel. What I am suggesting is that we all take an active role in ensuring that Informix delivers on its promises to the user community. I'll do my part... care to join me??? Ken
