This is indeed true, and exactly what is happening. Unfortunately your
4GL version does not support DBCENTURY! So the year will be expanded by
4GL with 1900. You need to look at 4GL version 7.20 for DBCENTURY
support.
Perhaps June's definition could be expanded:
"Similarly, for input performed through a 4GL PROMPT statement or form,
if the receiving variable is defined as a DATE datatype, the century
expansion is accomplished at the point where the data is placed in the
variable, and the DBCENTURY value is taken from the client. For older
clients that do not support DBCENTURY, 1900 will be used explicitly."
Although I suspect June was assuming the client did support DBCENTURY,
as that was the topic of the note.
