Lots of locks

I've got a customer that has an application that keeps running out of locks. We've upped the LOCKS in onconfig, but I'm reluctant to keep doing this due to extra requirement of shared mem. Is there a way of finding out how many locks the application requested, or is it just a matter of adding LOCKS until the application is successful ?
