The suffix does not have to be specified, but fglgo will automatically try adding the .4gi suffix, and if it can't find a file under that name it will try .4go instead, and then complain if it still can't find the program. So, Yes the files on disk are stuck with the extensions, and No the extension does not have to be specified in the fglgo command line.
