Re: Informix in Semi Conductor Industry?

Peggy, I'm not exactly in the Semi Conductor industry, but I'll take a shot anyway. Take the following with a grain of salt. Shop Floor Control refers to software used to schedule and track the processing of material. For example, if you're building a wooden car, Shop Floor Control would make sure you didn't attach the wheels before they were built. When you did attach the wheels, it would record the time at which you performed the action, who you were and what you would do next. Workstream is the name of a Shop Floor Control product but I don't remember who makes it. I believe it's basically a front end product not entirely unlike NewEra, PowerBuilder or Delphi. Going further out on a limb, I think its Motif based (a flavor of X Windows). It can work with just about any database including Informix. All this aside, database administration is database administration. If you're not directly involved in Workstream, then it's not too much to worry about. An understanding of how the tables were used would be helpful. But there isn't really anything unique about Workstream or Shop Floor Control. If you can gleen anything from this, I'll expect my $0.02 in the mail :) --Craig (craig@chemistry.utah.edu) > > I need help from someone who knows about the Semi Conductor industry.
