?? getspnam is a shadow password function.
Try a small test program with no database access
1.4gl:-
MAIN
DISPLAY "Hello2
END MAIn
Make sure $INFORMIXC is not set.
Do cc -v and make sure you are using the SCO C compiler and not gcc.
Compile with c4gl.
If that works try
1.4gl:-
DATABASE mydb
MAIN
SELECT * FROM systables where tabid=1
DISPLAY status
END MAIn
Does this work?
David.
PS Please keep me informed of the outcome of this call via e-mail as
I plan to upgrade a site running SCO 3.2v5.0.4p soon.

No output written to a.out [pigment.dircon.net] $ echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH /usr/informix/lib:/usr/informix/lib/esql [pigment.dircon.net] $ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/informix/lib [pigment.dircon.net] $ c4gl test.4gl [pigment.dircon.net] $ ./a.out Hello, world Infact you dont really need LD_LIBRARY_PATH set at all for 4GL - only if you are using esql ... /J\\ -- "I managed to take her completely by surprise" - Prince Edward
cc -V returns: SCO Unix Development System Release 5.1.1A 27July98 simple test still gives error; even when I use i4gl Undefined symbol getspnam /u/apps/informix/lib/tools/libos.a(opasswd.o)
I don't have LD_LIBRARY_PATH set.
