What people probably mean is that RAID , is potentially slower. RAID , negates some of the benefits of Informix 7 When using 7,x first consider simply using fragmentation on raw devices and using informix mirroring for resilience before going for RAID, volume managers etc. as Inf 7.x is then more aware of where the actual data is on real devices rather than logical devices.
