We had the opportunity to test Informix 5.0 Online running on Sequoia (multi-processing, fully fault tolerant system), and conduct a benchmark/performance evaluation test. Sequoia is fully symmetric multi-processing system with its own TOPIX Unix-like operating system. Very, very nice system. Could install up to 128 cpu's in the system. Found out that Informix 5.0 runs on only one processor, even if other processors are available, because 5.0 was not designed for execution on more than one processor at same time. Don't know about SE, but I believe the restriction was due to multi-process concurrency issues in Informix 5.0. By the way, Informix rans fine out of the box on the system. Bottom line is that Informix 5.0 may run fine on multiprocessing system, but it would be good idea to find out if it will run on more than one processor concurrently. > ********************************************************************** > * #Include disclaimer.h PGP sig in my resume * > * Stuart Hemming.
