Hello I use Informix 7.23 Workgroup server. Can I trust onbar to backup and restore my data and the database ? Thanks

Yes, but... There are known bugs with onbar - you should check out the Informix Tech-info centre. Ones that I know of ( and have experience with ) are:- Point in time recovery - doesn't work all the time - you may have to use point in log recovery instead or fiddle around with the ixbar.<servernum> file ( not recommended ). Generally, if you just want to backup and recover entire databases then onbar works fine. When you start getting fancy, then you may run into some problems. Ensure you disign and test your archiving strategy thoroughly before implementation otherwise you might get bitten !!! Don't try and recover things that you hadn't planned on recovering - it will get messy !!
